Dear Parents,

I hope everyone is off to a great start in third grade! Mrs. Nickford and I are really enjoying the class. The children are very polite and kind to their peers and teachers.

Just a few reminders before our Open House on Thursday. Please send in a snack for your child each day. Also, we have PE on Monday and Wednesdays, sneakers must be worn for PE class. The  children will have homework beginning on Monday. The homework should be completed and returned the next day. In addition, please remind your child to clean out his/her take home folder each night.

In math we have begun place value, and have played several games to reinforce the concepts that were taught. The stage is being set for our language arts  block! The children will create their memory mats tomorrow and we will generate a list of ideas that can be used as writing ideas.  Our first writing theme will be personal narratives.  In reading we have discussed selecting a "just right" book and sustaining reading for an appropriate amount of time.
